The Historic Harbor View Hotel & Resort

Near the end of North Water Street, overlooking Edgartown's scenic harbor and just a few steps from the lighthouse, sits the most storied hotel on Martha's Vineyard. Built in the 1890s and now enjoying a $90 million renovation, the Harbor View Hotel & Resort remains the "Grande Dame" of Vineyard hotels and a beloved destination.

In 2006 Scout began a multi-year restoration program designed to improve every aspect of the hotel, including a rededication to the traditions, exceptional service and unique local experiences that have made the Harbor View a refuge from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Interior designer Linda Woodrum, known for her work on HGTV Dream Homes and Coastal Living Idea Houses, has created fresh, inviting, casually sophisticated interior spaces that evoke Vineyard style and life lived near the sea. Hart|Howerton's Doug Wright, one of the nation's experts in New England shingle-style architecture, has guided the restoration and maintained the historic integrity of the property.

Harbor View guests have priority access to the many luxury services, dining options and Vineyard experiences available through the resort. The resort offers a wonderfully engaging children's program, sunset harbor cruises on its own all-wood picnic boat, the freshest local cuisine and the island's best wine cellar.

Thad Hyland is the new General Manager of our Vineyard properties. Thad has a deep background in hospitality having worked for leading hotel companies including the Rockefeller's Rock Resorts as well as a variety of properties owned by the Crown family. Most recently Thad was the Managing Director of the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa in California, a five diamond property outside of Los Angles.

Now, for the first time, Scout has created a very special opportunity for visitors to become owners at the Harbor View. For generations of visitors to the Vineyard, the Harbor View Hotel & Resort has represented the best Martha's Vineyard has to offer. It is a place were families gather, where memories are made, and where values are passed from one generation to the next.
